FAQS:
HAVE A QUESTION? START HERE!
The best way to start is to book an initial appointment, where we can assess your needs and create a personalized care plan.
If you'd like to understand more about the practice or ensure this setting is appropriate for your level of care, you may schedule an optional discovery call. This is a brief, focused conversation about the practice itself, not a clinical evaluation of your symptoms or presentation. Most patients find it easier to skip this step and book an appointment directly.
This outpatient practice is not equipped for emergency or high-risk situations, including serious suicidal thoughts or self-harm behaviors. If you are in crisis, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.
I treat a wide range of adult, child, and adolescent mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, insomnia, and hormone-related mood changes. I am trained in supporting PANS/PANDAS, Lyme and other tick-borne illness-related mood or behavioral changes, in collaboration with specialized care teams.
I also provide care for adolescents in a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for eating disorders, and am able to treat people with anorexia nervosa, bulimia/purging, ARFID, and other eating disorders in this outpatient practice. Due to the higher-risk nature of these conditions, treatment requires frequent medical and psychiatric monitoring, along with concurrent therapy and coordinated care to ensure safety and effectiveness. I collaborate with families using a Family- Based Treatment (FBT) approach to support lasting recovery.
Yes. I provide full-scope psychiatric medication management, just like a psychiatrist, as part of tailored treatment plans. Using evidence-based strategies and lab-informed approaches, I aim to optimize symptom relief while minimizing side effects. Medications are integrated with therapy, lifestyle guidance, and other integrative supports to create a comprehensive plan.
Yes. I provide comprehensive psychotherapy and skills-based counseling, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Family Based Therapy (FBT) and executive function support, as part of an integrated treatment plan. Therapy is coordinated with medication management and lifestyle interventions to address both symptoms and underlying factors.
For many patients -- especially those with higher risk conditions -- I will frequently recommend seeing a therapist concurrently for regular, ongoing support, integrated with medication management and other aspects of care.
The frequency of appointments depends on your personalized treatment plan and the type of care you are receiving. For medication management, patients may start with monthly visits to monitor progress and adjust treatment. Medication initiation or dose adjustments may require more frequent monitoring. As your symptoms stabilize and improve, less frequent appointments may be appropriate.
Please note that after-school availability is limited. While I do treat children and adolescents, it is important to know prior to establishing care that occasionally missing school for appointments may be necessary. I work closely with families to make this as smooth as possible and minimize disruption.
Yes. Telehealth appointments are available. I encourage clients who are being seen for the first time to be seen in person if they are able, and follow-ups are often virtual. Clients who are on controlled substances such as stimulant medications are required to be seen in person periodically in order to maintain compliance with DEA regulations and clinical care guidelines.
Centered Psychiatry is a private-pay psychiatry practice and does not bill insurance directly, including Medicare or Medicaid. This model allows me to provide integrative psychiatric care without the limitations often imposed by insurance coverage.
Fees are consistent with integrative psychiatry practices in the Newton/Boston area. Initial psychiatric evaluations are longer and more in-depth, while follow-up visits are shorter and lower in cost.
While I do not bill insurance, I provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, and many patients receive partial reimbursement depending on their plan.
I accept credit cards, HSA, and FSA. Payment is due at the time of service, and a card on file is required to hold appointments.
Supplements are an important part of integrative care, supporting overall wellness and treatment goals. I offer
professional-grade supplements through my Fullscript account for convenience, quality assurance, and discounted pricing. While I receive a small margin through wholesale pricing, most of the savings are passed directly to you, helping keep the cost of integrative care below typical retail pricing.
I am happy to discuss supplement recommendations during visits; however, supplement management, sourcing, and monitoring are provided through Fullscript to ensure product quality, accurate dosing, and efficient use of clinical time.
Centered Psychiatry does not charge an additional lab for interpreting fees that are ordered as part of your care. It is a core part of your clinical care. Interpretation is part of your care -- even when results are complex and require clinical consultation with laboratory specialists or other experts for deeper understanding. Lab interpretation is discussed during your scheduled appointments.
